Jerry Taylor, 71, of Smithville died Thursday, October 6, 2016 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital.

 

Taylor was a member of Whorton Springs Baptist Church and he was retired from American General Insurance Company. He was a warrant commissioner and he had other public service jobs for 20 years.

 

The funeral was held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home.

 

Mike Carpenter and David Mahan officiated with burial following in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

 

Taylor was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Odell Adcock Taylor.

 

Survivors include his wife, Betty Bennett Taylor of Smithville. A daughter, Gina and Riki Howard of Brentwood. One son, Brad and Melinda Taylor of Liberty. One step daughter, Dana and Matt McKinney of Alexandria. One step son, David and Monica Reynolds of Alexandria. Eight grandchildren, Allison and Slater Howard of Brentwood, Lindsey and Kendal Taylor of Liberty, Kinsey and Ian Knight of Smithville, Kelby Melton of Smithville, Levi and Molly Reynolds of Alexandria. One great grandchild, Maverick Knight of Smithville. One sister, Barbara Prater of McMinnville.

 

Pallbearers included; Kevin and Micky Ralph, Dennis Johnson, Scott Foutch, Phillip Self, and Jimmy Poss.

 

 

 

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, was in charge of the arrangements.
