Funeral services for Jerry Wayne “Popcorn Man” Evans, 74, of McMinnville were held Jan. 7 at the chapel of High’s Funeral Home, McMinnville. Lorin Pedigo officiated with burial following at Gardens of Memory.Mr. Evans passed away Jan. 4 at Alive Hospice at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville after a brief illness. He was retired from Carrier Air Conditioning after working there 28 years, he was in the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Air Guard for 20 years and was affiliated with the Christ United Methodist Church.He was preceded in death by his parents Gentry and Louise Burton Evans and a sister Barbara Peterson.Survivors include his wife of 51 years Donna Davenport Evans of McMinnville; a son Mark (Linda) Evans of Centertown Community; granddaughter Sarah Evans of Centertown Community; aunts Mrs. Johnnie Hobson of Ardmore, Mrs. Billie Cook of Smithville, Mrs. Jo Evans of Smithville, Mrs. Edith Evans of Smithville and Frankie Evans of Smithville; sister-in-law Patsy Davenport Askew; a niece Pam Davenport; great-nephew Davis L. Cantrell; and numerous cousins.
