Malone
Jimmy E. Malone went to be with the Lord early on the morning of Oct. 12. He was 84 years old.
Funeral services were held Oct. 16 at Kellum Baptist Church, Rev. Jody Yopp officiated with burial following at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, NC.
Jimmy was born in Alexandria on February 25, 1931, and joined the Marine Corps at the age of 19. He served a tour in Vietnam in 1968, and retired from the Marine Corps in 1970 after 20 years. He began a second career working for the Civil Service aboard Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base. Jimmy finally retired in 1991, when he moved to Georgia to help care for his father.
Jimmy was a member of Kellum Baptist Church, where he and Naomi have attended and served for over fifty years.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Naomi Malone; son, Stan; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Karen; three grandchildren, and their spouses, Eric and Kelsey McLemore, Mandie and Marcelis Martis, and Savannah Malone; three and a half great-grandchildren, Evey, Cedric, and Elias.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Kellum Baptist Church Building Fund, 1175 Kellum Loop Road, Jacksonville, NC 28546 or to Onslow County Home Health and Hospice, 4024 Richlands Hwy, Jacksonville, NC 28540.
