Joan Carol (Chandler) Paulsen, 77, of Smithville, died peacefully in her sleep at Alive Hospice care center in Nashville on July 27 at 7:25 a.m.Joan was born on Feb. 27, 1935 in Rhinelander, Wis., where she grew up and married the late Duane “Duke” H. Paulsen. They enjoyed 38 years of marriage until his death on Dec. 12, 1996. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Fred and Genevieve Chandler of Rhinelander, Wis., as well as one brother, Eugene Chandler.
