Funeral services for Joe Wallace Oakley, 72, of Sparta were held April 6 at Peeled Chestnut United Methodist Church. Bro. Tommy Davis officiated with burial following at Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. 
Mr. Oakley passed away April 4 at his residence. He was a farmer and a member of Peeled Chestnut United Methodist Church. 
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Oakley; son, Darrell Oakley; parents, Wallace and Grace Allen Oakley; and sister, Ann Oakley.
Survivors include his two sons, Joe Derek (Felisha) Oakley of Smithville and Daren (Tabitha) Oakley of McMinnville; four grandchildren, Kristen, Mara Jade, Tavia and Anaka Oakley; two step-grandchildren, Austin and Dustin Cook; two brothers, Jimmy (Hilda) Oakley and Louie (Vivian) Oakley both of Alexandria. Many nieces and nephews also survive
Pallbearers included Mike Holman, Dale Looney, Corey Price, Eugene LeFever, Mike Billings, Charlie Holman.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, LLC, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
