John Aubrey Gunter, 62, died Aug. 2 at Vanderbilt Hospital from injuries sustained in a truck accident.
Mr. Gunter was a native of Cannon County. He was a member of the Smithville Church of God and was a self-employed heavy equipment operator.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Carol Warren Gunter, of the Short Mountain Community; daughters, Carolyn (Richard) Graham, of Cleveland, and Kristie (Dustin) Johnson, of Smithville; grandchildren, Brittany Little, Ashlee Gunter, Emily Graham, William Fryar, and Chandler and Leah Johnson; and sisters, Betty Sue Hullet, of Indiana, Jo Motley, of Murfreesboro, and Fay Pitts, of Woodbury.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mildred Wright Gunter; a sister, Glenda Caldwell; and a brother, Morris Gunter.
Funeral services were held in the chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home on Aug. 6. Bro. Donnie Kelly officiated with interment following in Gunter-Grizzle Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dusty Johnson, Richard Graham, Bryan Pitts, John Michael Pitts, Ron Mendenhall, Blake Mendenhall, Ricky Warren and BJ Warren.
Woodbury Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
