John Hillard Worful, age 91, of Smithville passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville.

He was a Navy veteran serving in the Korean War. He attended St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Cookeville. His career spanned 35 years with the K-Mart corporation. He retired with an executive position in Troy headquarters. He was a devoted family man and had a big impact on everyone around him. He will be remembered for his leadership as a Dad and his generous heart. 

Mr. Worful was born on December 13, 1931 in Lyons, KY. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ben Marion and Alma May Eapmon Worful.

The family has chosen direct cremation and there will be no visitation. 

He met the love of his life Janet Catherine Young Worful in 1954. They had 69 wonderful years of life together. In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Brenda (Tom) Kirk; four sons, Bruce (Jennifer) Worful, Terry Worful, John (Antonia) Worful and Jim (Sheryl) Worfu;  11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Sheffer and Juanita Nagy. He was a loving uncle to two nieces and three nephews, several cousins also survive. 

The family would also like to honor the lifelong friendship with the George Colgan family. 

The family has chosen direct cremation and there will be no visitation.
