Funeral services for Kennith Vanatta, 70, of the Snow Hill community were held Feb. 27 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Dennis Stanley and Bro. Michael Hale officiated with burial following at DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Vanatta passed away Feb. 25 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, the DeKalb County Republican Party Chairman from 2002-08, a 32nd degree Mason, York Way, member and past Worshipful Master of Liberty Lodge #77, a member of the Smithville Eastern Star #374 and was retired from TRW in Lebanon.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elzie and Aunia Bell Parker Vanatta; two premature children; paternal grandparents Harvey and Avo Vanatta; and maternal grandparents Ewin and Effie Parker.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Hendrixson Vanatta of the Snow Hill community; a daughter Amy (Shane) Wilcher of McMinnville; two grandchildren Brandon Gay of Smithville and Cracie Gay of McMinnville; mother-in-law Vella Hendrixon of Smithville; aunts and uncles J.C. and Jean Vanatta, Earl and Margaret Vanatta and Barbara Vanatta, all of the Snow Hill Community; and a sister-in-law Faye (Bobby) Hall of Alexandria.
Pallbearers included Brandon Gay, Dustin Estes, Dennis Stanley, General Oaks, Bradley Hall, Robert Taylor and Jeff Vanatta.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
