Larry Wayne Norrod, age 73, of Smithville passed away Thursday night July 11, 2024, at his residence. 

He was born August 21, 1950, to his parents, the late Claude Norrod and Rosie Hale Norrod Simmons.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Norrod and sister, Phyllis Jones. 

He was a truck driver for 45 years and a member of the New Union The Baptist Church. 

Mr. Norrod is survived by his wife of 54 years Phyllis Norrod of Smithville; two sons, Jared Norrod and  Jamie (Adrea) Norrod all of Smithville; granddaughter, Lakelyn Norrod; half-sister, Paula Rogers of McMinnville; sisters-in-law, Bettie Micheal, Helen (Doug) Smoot all of Smithville; brother-in-law, Charles Jaco of Smithville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 

Funeral service was held Sunday July 14, 2024, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Danny Hale and Michael Hale officiating and burial followed in the New Union Cemetery. 

Pallbearers included Rodney Nichols, Josh Summers, Waylon West, Billy Fuson, Benny Jones, Jamie Norrod.  Honorary Pallbearers were Tim Smoot and James Pennington.

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
