Funeral services for James Cordell Lawson, 84, of Smithville were held Dec. 31 at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Jack Byers officiated. Burial will be in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas at a later time.
He passed away Dec. 29 at his residence.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, retired from U.S. Air Lines, and affiliated with the West End Avenue Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by wife, Helen Lawson; parents, Elizie and Ora Johnson Lawson; two sisters, Loreida Goss and JoEllen Eperjesi; one brother, Roy Lawson.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Phillips Lawson of Smithville; five daughters, Donna Lawson of Texas, Teresa (Paul) Jones of Texas, Deborah (Lee) Smith of Smithville, Vicky (Don) Langston of Georgia, and Catherine McKeown of Murfreesboro; three sons, Bill (Sharon) Lawson of Texas, Lawrence Cantrell of Smithville, Edd (Roberta) Cantrell of Pelham, Tennessee and Jessie and Trey Andrews of Smithville; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one sister, Gwen Bandy of Florida; one brother-in-law, Andy Eperjesi of Texas.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations please be given to the West End Avenue Church of Christ in care of Don Henry, 212 Forrest Drive, McMinnville, Tennessee 37110.
