Mrs. Lena Taylor Maynard age 77 of Dowelltown and a DeKalb County native was born December 7, 1938 and passed away Monday evening, May 9, 2016 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center following a short illness.
Lena was a retired dental assistant with Dr. Jerre Hale Dentistry, a homemaker and faithful member of Whorton Springs Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Cleveland Columbus and Carrie Suzanne Summers Taylor.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Grady Taylor and Ralph Taylor; 4 sisters, Audrey an infant daughter, Virginia Hendrixson, Ellen Hendrixson, and Irene Judkins; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Melaine Maynard.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Edward Maynard of Dowelltown; 1 son, Edward Scott Maynard of Dowelltown; 2 sisters, Helen Stanley and Margaret and her husband, Earl Vanatta both of Dowelltown; 2 sisters-in-law, Joann (Billy) Smith and Margaret Bomstock; many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, May 12, 2016 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bros. David Mahan, Erick Barrett and Michael Hale officiated with burial to following in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers included; Jason Hendrixson, Michael Hendrixson, Dewayne Hendrixson, Jerry Hendrixson, Terry Hendrixson, Dennis Stanley, and Larry Stanley.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.
