Lucretia "Lucy" Parker age 93 of Smithville and a native of Michigan passed away Friday morning, November 4, 2016 at NHC HealthCare Center in Smithville.

 

She was born April 13, 1923 to her parents, the late George and Lucretia Suci Shoops. 

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Parker; son, Marvin Parker; 2 brother, George and Bill Shoops.

 

Lucy was a member of the Smithville First Freewill Baptist Church, worked at K-Mart Corporation as HR Director and was a member of the Smithville Senior Citizens.

 

Survivors include 1 son, David (Rebecca) Parker of Smithville; 6 grandchildren, Billy (Jennifer) Parker, Brian (Becca) Parker, Zachary Parker and Amanda, Sammantha Parker, Hannah Parker and Paul Holland; 4 great-grandchildren, Owen, Ava, Bryce and Brooke Parker; sister-in-law, Billie Sue Parker of Smithville and life-long friends, Paul and Amy Robinson of Smithville.

 

Funeral services were conducted Monday, November 7, 2016 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel.

 

Bro. Bernard Houk officiated.

 

The family will have a private burial for Mrs. Parker.

 

 In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel in memory of Mrs. Lucy to help with funeral expenses

 

The family would like to express their appreciation to NHC HealthCare for the care and love that you have shown for the past 19 months, there are no words to say how much it has meant for all that you have done and went above the call of duty in care.  Also a special "Thank You" to Dr. William Sherwood and staff for the care that you gave to Ms. Lucy. 

 

 May God richly bless you all for what you have done and given.
