Margaret Evelyne Underwood, 88, of Shakopee, MN died on Friday, Sept. 6 at Augustana Emerald Crest in Shakopee.
Evelyne was born on May 10, 1925, in Smithville, the daughter of Willie and Susie Pirtle Gay.  She married James N. Underwood on Dec. 20, 1941 in Smithville.
Evelyne loved being a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Shakopee, where she was an active member of the Presbyterian Women’s Group and many bible studies. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, quilting and crocheting. Her family and especially her grandchildren meant everything to her.
She is survived by her husband, James; sons, Ed and wife, Patrice, Martin and wife, Kristine; grandchildren, Lance and wife Kristin, David and wife, Cathie, Kelly Ann Stolarski and husband Russ; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ralph Gay and wife, Frances, Ronnie Gay and wife, Cathy; sisters, Naomi Cripps and Dean Waggoner; sister-in -law, Miranda Gay.
She was preceded in death by son, Jim; and brothers, Austin and Edsel Gay.
Funeral services for Evelyne Underwood were held Wednesday, Sept. 11 at First Presbyterian Church in Shakopee. Reverend Bev Modlin officiated.
Pallbearers were Lance Underwood, David Underwood, Martin Underwood, Timothy Underwood, Anthony Underwood and Josh Underwood.
Honorary pallbearers included Kelly Ann Stolarski, Nicole Novak, and Kassie Underwood.
McNearney Funeral Home, Shakopee, MN, was in charge of the arrangements.
