Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Phillips Whitefield are scheduled for 1 p.m. on June 28 at Ligon and Bobo Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Clayborn officiating. Interment will follow at the Salem Cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1-8 p.m. and Thursday after 10 a.m. at Ligon and Bobo.
Mrs. Whitefield, 83, of Liberty, passed away June 25 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.
Born April 23, 1929, in Hardin County, Ky., she is the daughter of the late Pharoh and Eddie Phillips. She retired from Designs by Norvell and was a member of Cooper's Chapel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Gordon Tripp and Frank Whitefield; a daughter, Mary Helen Tripp Keaton; three sisters, Lola Bunch, Elsie Bray and Ruby Phillips; and a brother, Jr. Phillips.
She is survived by five children, Floyd Tripp, Goldbach, Germany; Kenneth (Pat) Tripp , Liberty; Paul Gerald (Carol) Tripp, Dowelltown; George (Linda) Tripp, Liberty; and Rose Mary Tripp, Nashville. She also leaves behind grandchildren, Angela Georgette Tripp, Heidi Trail Herman, Kenny Tripp, Mary Margaret Tripp, Chris Tripp, Jonathan Tripp and Michael Tripp.
Michael Tripp, Bryron Tripp, Bradley Tripp, Brandon Tripp, Kenny Tripp, Jonathan Tripp, Chris Tripp, and George Tripp will serve as pallbearers.
Ligon and Bobo Funeral Home, Lebanon, are in charge of the arrangements.
