Mary Anita Houk, age 68, of Smithville went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday July 5, 2022, at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. 

 

She was a member of the Smithville First Freewill Baptist Chruch and a retired secretary with the Soil Conservation having worked 17 years. 

 

Anita was born July 16, 1953, to her parents, the late LeRoy and Mary Ethel Taylor Curtis.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Curtis. 

 

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Bernard Houk of Smithville; two daughters, Mary (Tommy) Melton and Jennifer (Jason) Winchester both of Smithville; four grandchildren, Justin (Chloe) Winchester, Keri Winchester, Taylor Patterson and Lucas Winchester; one sister, Delilah (Lillard) Barrett of Lebanon; one brother, Danny (Peggy) Curtis of Smithville. 

 

Funeral service was held Thursday, July 7, 2022, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Frank Bratcher officiating and burial followed in Banks Cemetery. 

 

Pallbearers included Anthony Scott, Brian Carter, David Agee, Daniel Agee, Terry Beshearse, Gary Beshearse, Darrell Spencer, David Penuel, and Brian Tramell.

 

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, is in charge of the arrangements.
