Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Cantrell Priest, 85, a native of Smithville, were held Oct. 13 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel.

 

Bro. Michael hale officiated, with interment following in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

 

She passed away Oct. 9 at NHC Healthcare Center in Algood.

 

She was born August 20, 1930 to the late Hubert Aaron and Maggie Mae Messic Cantrell.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Gentry Ed Cantrell and Bill Priest; two sons, Eddie "Buck" Cantrell and Ricky Lynn Cantrell; one grandson, Terry Layne Cantrell; one brother, J.M. Cantrell.

 

Mary was a Methodist and a homemaker.

 

She is survived by two daughters, Peggy (Phillip) Stewart of Smithville, and Barbara Farmer of Smyrna; seven grandchildren, Sundi Blanchard, Salan Letsinger, Brian (Cindy) Young, Joe (Tina) Young, Letitia Cantrell Jones, Zeek Cantrell, and Brooke Cantrell; three great-grandchildren, Alanna (Brandon) Jones, Spencer Letsinger, and Brittany Letsinger; two great-great grandchildren, Brandon Jones, III, and Addison Jones; one sister, Bessie Delene Webb of Smithville; one special nephew, Kyle Cantrell; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jean Cantrell, Lillian (Brownie) Tittsworth, Louise Cantrell, and Ruth Cantrell all of Smithville, Lois (J.E.) Gay, Judy (Ronnie) Cantrell both of McMinnville; a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

 

Pallbearers included; Joey Young, Brian Young, Stefan Cantrell, Kyle Cantrell, Jimmy Cantrell, and Harvey Cantrell.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Toys for Tots and Adopt a Family, Ronald McDonald House or the Dementia and Mental Health Research.
