Funeral services for Maurice Edwin Braswell, 87, of Smithville were held Jan. 22 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bros. Randall Ganeus, Terry Little and Freddy Curtis officiated with burial following at DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Braswell passed away Jan. 19 at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was an U.S. Navy Veteran, a retail store owner and manager and a member of the Smithville First United Mehodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Matthew Allen and Minnie LeFevre Braswell; wife Elsie Braswell; a sister Lillie Mai Braswell; brothers Jewel “Mouse,” Gerald, Wilburn, Clarence, M.A., Vallas, Lloyd and Johnny Vestal Braswell.
Survivors include his children Teresa (Mike) King of Murfreesboro and Eddie (Coral) Braswell of Smithville; two grandchildren Chloe and Claire Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers included W.C. Braswell, Johnny Hayes, Mark Hayes, Ricky Hayes, Mike Braswell and Matt Curtis.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
