On Friday, March 31, Melody Savage Guinn, age 57, passed away at Signature Health Care of Putnam County, of an extended illness. Formally of DeKalb County, Melody was a resident of Cookeville for the past few years. Her mother, Sue Barrett preceded her in death in 2005. Survivors include her step-father that raised her, Douglas (Barbara Goodwin) Barrett of Sparta, a son, John (Jami) Driver of Smithville and a daughter, Jennifer (Daniel) Buterbaugh of Cottage Home; and four grandchildren; Joe Driver , Aleisha Driver Bunch, William and Grant Buterbaugh and two great grandchildren; Elliot and Camden Bunch. Four stepchildren also survive: Kimberly Garvin of Lafayette and Brandy, Mickey, and Ricky Guinn Jr. all of Smithville, along with a number of step-grandchildren whom she loved very much.

 

Melody is survived by four sisters; Sheryl Savage Lundsford of Cookeville, Angela (Shawn) Barrett Puckett of Smithville, Pamela (Cody) Savage Loague of Maury County, and Sherry Diane Savage Abston of Sparta. Four brothers; Bill (Tracy) Hart of Alabama, Lee (Kathy Davis) Reynolds of Lavergne, Tommy (Stacie) Barrett of Shelbyville, and Tim Savage. A host of nieces and nephews and a special aunt, Janice Hood Apple of Smyrna also survives.
The family honored Melody's wishes for a direct cremation and no memorial service.

 

The family would like to say thank you to the loving staff at Signature Health Care of Putnam Count in Algood, and to express their sincere gratitude for the friendship, compassion and comfort shown to Melody during her extended illness, including Avalon Hospice of Cookeville and Amedysis Home Health.
