Funeral services for Bro. Melvin Billings, 90, of Smithville were held Jan. 12 at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Earl Langley and Bro. David Lee England officiated with burial following at  DeKalb Cemetery.
He passed away Jan. 10 at NHC of Smithville.
He was a retired Minister who pastored several different church’s in DeKalb and surrounding counties, and was affliated with Mt. Pisgah Freewill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Vaughn and Clara Felts Billings; his wife, Cecil Trapp Billings; grandson, Lynn Tallent; brother, Ernest Billings; two sisters, Ellen Hutchins and Odene Prater.
He is survived by one daughter, Joyce (Leonard) Tallent of Smithville; two grandsons, Marty Tallent of Smithville and Ronald (Andrea) Tallent of McMinnville; four great-grandchildren, Brandon and Martelia Tallent of Smithville, Alex and Aaron Tallent of McMinnville; one sister, Alama Billings of Smithville; two brothers, R.V. (Brenda) Billings and Claude Billings, all of Sparta; sister-in-law, Frances Billings of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers included; Marty, Ronald, Steve, Jason, Mike, and Keith Billings, Austin Barry and J.B. Hughes.
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of arrangements.
