Pettis

Mr. Bobby E. Pettis, Sr. age 81 of Smithville passed away Sunday afternoon at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro.

Mr. Bob was born February 3, 1935 to his parents the late, Wiley and Sarah Walters Pettis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 brother, Wiley Pettis and 1 sister, Martha Nell Prine.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, retired from retail management and was a member of the Smithville First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jeanenne W. Pettis of Smithville; 2 sons, Bobby E. Pettis, Jr. and wife Melissa of Rockvale, TN; Tony R. Pettis of Sparta; 4 grandchildren, Jeanette Richy of Kansas City, MO, Jaclyn Saunders and husband Bryan of Murfreesboro, Eric Pettis of Birmingham, AL and Marissa Pettis of Tullahoma; 2 great-grandchildren, Kevin and Lydia Rey Saunders. 

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel.

Dr. John Carpenter officiated with interment to following in DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. 

Pallbearers included: Eric Pettis, Bryan Saunders, Jacob Buckerfield, Charles Bodie, Blake Bodie, and Brandon Bodie.

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville were in charge of the arrangements.
