Mr. Darryl Rowland, age 75, of Smithville passed away on Monday at Ascension St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER.
Mr. Rowland was born February 7, 1945 in Portland, Oregon to his parents, the late Horace Nixon and Marjorie Pirtle Rowland. He was a member of Smithville First Baptist Church and an employee of Edd Rogers Chevrolet Auto Sales for 43 years. Darryl received many awards while working at Edd Rogers Chevrolet. He was the Chevrolet Legion of Leaders Sales Award recipient 1985 through 1995; Chevrolet Truck Sales Honor Club recipient for 17 years of the 20 year program; Chevrolet Truck Sales Club Hall of Fame Recipient; Buick Sales Master Award Winner 1978 through 1990; Chevrolet Society of Sales Executives Recipient 1996 through 2010; Chevrolet and Buick Mark of Excellence Recipient 2011 through 2020.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as one brother, Nixon Rowland.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Martha Thweatt Rowland of Smithville; three daughters, Christie (Brian) Carter of Cookeville, Tonya Stewart (Jason Rogers) of Nashville, and Sonya Rowland of Nashville; one son, Chad Rowland of Castalian Springs; seven grandchildren, Jackson Rowland, Emma Grace Carter, Ava Stewart, Chloe Stewart, Payton Carter, Caroline Diania Rowland, and Tryston Rogers; one sister, Serita and Ken Smith of Walling.
Funeral service was held on Thursday, February, 4, 2021 in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home with burial to following at DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
