Mr. U.L. LaFever, age 76 of DeKalb County passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at St. Thomas Stones River Hospital in Woodbury. 

Mr. LaFever had retired as the Owner/Operator of Center Hill Sports Marine and was a member of the Rescue Squad.    

Mr. LaFever was born on July 11, 1945 in DeKalb County to his parents, the late Verble and Lula Dunn LaFever. Also preceding him in death is a daughter-in-law, Dana Purkey LaFever.

Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Helen Perry LaFever of Smithville;  Son, Eugene LaFever of Sparta; granddaughter, Sahara "Sara Beth" LaFever of Smithville; sister, Louisa (Jack) Phelps of Nashville; brother, Calvin Urias LaFever (Merle Sandlin) of Smithville; and  sister-in-law, Sue (Jimmy) Bryson of Donelson.

Funeral service was held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Tim Bumbalough officiated with burial following at DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Barry Mabe, Dewayne Leftwich, Clayton Kawasaki, Zachary Roberts, Jamie Turner, Marvin Jones and Andy Cantrell. Honorary Pallbearers were Robert Grove, Junior Johnson, Gary Davis and Bill Ingall.

Love – Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
