Mrs. Altie L. Dyer Knowles, 80, passed away Wednesday morning, September 20,2023 at her residence. She was retired from Smithville Shirt Factory, a retired dietician with the DeKalb Co. School System and a retired caregiver. She was a member of the Smithville Church of Christ. 

She was born on April 27, 1943 in Gainesboro to her parents, Haskel and Flossie Pippin Dyer who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by three sisters, Stella Clemmons, Ella Chaffin and Linda Brown, five brothers, William, Hubert, Gordon, Franklin and Earl Dyer. 

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Gerald Knowles; four sons, Randall (Tracy) Knowles, Mark Knowles, Allen (Sheila) Knowles and Zachary Knowles all of Smithville; three grandchildren, Lukas and Clara Knowles and Mackenzie Patridge; two sisters, Reba Turner of Cookeville and Gladys Chaffin of MI; and one brother, Raymond Dyer of McMinnville. 

Funeral service was held Friday, September 23, 2023 in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Wayne Lankford and Bro. Dewey Dyer officiating. Burial followed in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. 

Pallbearers included Lucas Knowles, Zachary Knowles, Chad Fox, Reed Miller, Josh Gentry and Todd Mackie.

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
