Mrs. Hilda Lou Puckett Garrett, age 81 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at the Webb House in Smithville.

She was a member of the Smithville Church of God and a retired manager at Bee Jay Apparel. She had a love of wild flowers and working in them in her landscaping. 

Mrs. Garrett was born on December 16, 1942 in Smithville to her parents, the late Casto and Josie Staley Puckett. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Jeff Garrett; one brother, Morris Puckett and one sister, Marie Webb. 

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Keith Garrett of Smithville; son, Scott (Kelley) Garrett of Cookeville; three grandchildren, Claire Garrett of Smithville, Austin (Amber) Garrett of Murfreesboro, and Sloane (Hayden) Hill of Cookeville; two great-grandchildren, Summer Garrett of Smithville and Mary Kendall Garrett of Murfreesboro; three sisters, Carolyn (Jerry) Tramel, Gail Kirksey, and Bettye Pollard all of Smithville; brother-in-law, Don Garrett and sister-in-law, Yvonne Williams both of Arkansas. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 

Funeral service was held on Thursday, July 11, 2024 in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Chris Moore officiated and burial followed at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. 

Serving as pallbearers were Chris Tramel, Josh Tramel, Graden Kirksey, Todd Webb, Austin Garrett, and Hayden Hill.

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Smithville,  was in charge of the arrangements.
