Mrs. Thelma Durham, 98, passed away Sunday morning, January 15, 2017 at NHC of Smithville, TN.

 

She was born June 9, 1918 to her parents, the late John and Carrie Waddington in Farwell, Michigan.

 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer to whom she was married for 42 years, and a son Keith of Inglis, FL. Also three brothers, Louis, Gilbert and Tim Waddington and one sister, Fern Richards.

 

She is survived by one sister, Helen Kube and her husband, Bob of Farwell, Michigan; one son, Gary Durham and his wife Nancy of Smithville, TN.

 

She had six grandchildren, Todd Durham and his wife, Dana of Lawrenceville, GA, Tami Strong and her husband, John of Merritt Island, FL, Penny Stough of Rosebush, MI, Ginger Gulick and her husband, Kevin of Marian, Michigan, and Pepper Nichols and her husband, David of Lake City, Fl. Also she had 10 great-grandchildren.

 

She was always surrounded by a large, loving family at her request there will be no service in Smithville. She will be interred in the Gilmore Township Cemetery, Farwell, Michigan along with her parents, her husband, and her son Keith. The cemetery is located across the road from the house in which she was born.

 

Along with all the friends she made in Smithville the family would like to thank each and every employee of NHC. They made Thelma’s last days a joy.
