Mrs. Wilma Oakley, 99, of Alexandria, passed away Jan. 27 at NHC Healthcare in Smithville.
Mrs. Oakley was born May 6, 1912 in DeKalb County, the daughter of the late William Belva Corley and Lillie Frances Oakley. Mrs. Corley married Jim Burse Oakley on Dec. 16, 1931 and he preceded her in death on April 8, 1997.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, George Corley, Alton Corley and Billy Corley; and three sisters, Ruby Reynolds, Martha Corley and Loise Vanatta. She was a member of West Main Baptist Church in Alexandria.
Mrs. Oakley is survived by her daughter, June (David) Lancaster of Gordonsville; three grandchildren, Theresa (Ricky) Sircy, Danice (Gary) Whittemore and Yvonne (Kerry) Gibbs, all of Gordonsville; seven great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Mary Etta (William Paul) Griffith of Warren, Mich. and Ruth Corely of Temperance Hall.
Burial services were held Jan. 29 at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
