Ms. Billie Burton Cook, age 92, of Smithville and a long-time resident of Liberty, passed away Wednesday afternoon December 9, 2020 at The Webb House in Smithville.
She was born February 11, 1928 to her parents, the late Hershel and Artie Cantrell Burton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyte Cook; daughter, Tammy Knowles; two sisters, Louise Burton Evans and Johnnie Burton Hobson.
Billie was a member of the Smithville First Baptist Church and worked at Timers, Westinghouse and the shirt factory.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son-in-law, Kenneth Knowles of Smithville; granddaughter, Hillary Knowles of Smithville; two great-grandsons, Gunner Barfield-Knowles and Teagan Agee; special niece, Gina Jennings Denman of Smithville and niece, Cynthia Hobson Shannon of Huntsville; nephew, Randy Hobson of Fayetteville, TN.
Funeral service was held Friday, December 11, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and burial followed in Salem Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Auburn Hobson, Liam Hobson, Whitt Hobson, Payne Denman, Mike Braswell, Larry Redmon, and David Terrell. Randy Hobson was an honorary pallbearer.
Donations can be made to Salem Cemetery or Smithville First Baptist Church, in memory of Ms. Billie.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
