Funeral services for Naomi Gay Cripps, 78, of Smithville were held Jan.29 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bro. David Mahan and Ronnie Gay officiated, with burial following at DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
She passed away Jan. 27 at her residence.
She was a homemaker and a member of Whorton Springs Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Willie and Susie Pirtle Gay.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Autin Gay and Edsel Gay; two sisters, Evelyne Underwood and Dean Waggoner; one sister-in-law, Ora Gay.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ray Doyle Cripps of Smithville; two children, Susan (Bruce) Medley, and Greg (Kelly) Cripps both of Smithville; six grandchildren, Brandise Layne of Cookeville, Nichol Layne of Smithville, Chris Layne of Smithville, Brooke (Richard) Teachout of Smithville, Zach (Hillary) Cripps of Murfreesboro, Brian Cripps of Smithville; six great-grandchildren, Hunter Layne, Emily Layne, Aidan Blanchfield Layne, Braelyn and Bryleigh Teachout, Dreamer Cripps; two brothers, Ralph (Frances) Gay of Smithville, and Ronnie (Cathy) Gay of Fayettville; sister-in-law, Miranda Gay of Minnesota; brother-in-law, James Underwood of Minnesota.
Pallbearers included; Darrell Gay, Mike Gay, Thomas Reed, David Cripps, Phillip Hendrix, and Bradley Hendrix.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of arrangements.
