Nell C. Fly, 80, of Hendersonville, passed away Sept. 23 at her home. Mrs. Fly was the eldest daughter born August 4, 1931 to John Lee and Leona Young Cantrell.
Mrs. Fly was the quintessential wife, mother and grandmother, who cherished time with her friends and family, whether it was sharing a meal or playing her favorite card game, Shanghai. She was a jigsaw puzzle enthusiast and the more difficult the puzzle, the better. Above all, Mrs. Fly was a good-hearted Christian woman who loved her Lord and a dear friend to the Challenge Class at Bluegrass Baptist Church, who will serve as honorary pallbearers.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Morgan, Jewell and Prentice Cantrell.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Joseph P. Fly; children, Diane Heath, Jody (Lori) Fly, Deborah (Frank) Waller and Randy (Kristen) Fly; grandchildren, Ashley Heath, Leslie (Adam) Ward, Jason (Natasha) Heath, Preston Waller, Jordan Heath, Dylan Fly, Caitlin Waller, and Allie and Anna Fly; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jayden Heath, Ailidh and Ewan Ward; and close family friend, Donna Gayle Gardner.
A Life Celebration service was conducted Sept. 26 from the Chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home with Rev. Matt Tullos officiating. Interment followed in the Hendersonville Memory Gardens with Jason Heath, Preston Waller, Jordan Heath, Dylan Fly, Adam Ward, Florian Eppinger, Mike Williams and Dylan McDonald serving as active pallbearers.
