Funeral services for Lorene Oakley Nixon, 94, of Smithville were held Oct. 30 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bro. Jeff Armstrong and Bro. Michael Hale officiated, with burial following in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

She passed away on Oct. 28 at NHC.

She was the daughter of Lanace and Lola Smith Oakley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Leonard Nixon; daughter, Betty Vickers.

She was a Methodist and a Homemaker.

She is survived by two children, Don (Patsy) Nixon of Smithville, and Bobbie (Pat) Murphy of Old Hickory; grandchildren, Kathy Vickers of Old Hickory, Kevin Vickers of Smith County, Steven Nixon of Columbia, Michael Murphy of Old Hickory, Matt Murphy of Spring Hill, and son-in-law, Don Vickers of Mt. Juliet; five grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Pallbearers included; Steven Nixon, Michael Murphy, Matt Murphy, Kevin Vickers, Jesse Vickers, and Joel Moore.
