Norma Gunter, age 90, of Smithville, passed away Friday morning June 8, 2018 at the Webb House in Smithville.

She was born August 22, 1927 to her parents, the late Clarence and Edna Cook Phillips.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Gunter; son, Phillip Gunter; two brothers, Clarence Phillips, Jr and Bill Phillips.

She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church and a retired clothing salesperson.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two children, Dan Gunter of Lakeland, FL and Sharon (Harold) Rader of Smithville; five grandchildren, Danielle Gunter and husband, Stig Thomsen, Monica and husband, Chris Dickens, Leah and husband, Eric Orsbon, Matt and wife, Thi Gunter and Alex Rader; four great-grandchildren, Brice and Drew Dickens, Auden and Ben Thomsen; three sisters, Jane Eller and Mary Cantrell Lawson both of Smithville and Faye Walker Campbell and husband, Don of McMinnville; sister-in-law, Fredia Phillips of Smithville; special friend, Lynda Gunter and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers were Eric Orsbon, Chris Dickens, Matt Gunter, Richard Eller, Joey Phillips and Barry Phillips. Honorary pallbearers included Marty Phillips, Randall Phillips, Jeff Walker, John Walker, Eddie Cantrell and Larry Cantrell.

Funeral service was conducted Sunday, June 10, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. VL Baker officiating and burial following in Bethel Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Eric Orsbon, Chris Dickens, Matt Gunter, Richard Eller, Joey Phillips and Barry Phillips. Honorary pallbearers included Marty Phillips, Randall Phillips, Jeff Walker, John Walker, Eddie Cantrell and Larry Cantrell.

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
