Norma Jane Malone, 81, of Mulberry, passed away 11:05 am, Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Mulberry Health and Rehabilitation.
Born November 16, 1934 in Smithville, she was the daughter of the late Ulyus B. and Cora E. (Hendrixson) Taylor and a graduate of Smithville High School.
Her marriage was to Hubert “Hoot” Malone on September 11, 1954 in Rossville, GA. He preceded her in death on November 9, 1987.
Norma had worked at Sears Roebucks, Montgomery Ward, JC Penney’s, Ferodo Brake Factory in Smithville, and Center Lab of West Lafayette over the years. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and bird watching, especially hummingbirds.
She is survived by her daughter, Marsha Hipps (husband: Mark) of Oxford; brother, George Brent Taylor (wife: Gail) of Smithville; three grandchildren, Heather Slone (husband: Charles) of West Lafayette, Stephanie Hipps of Lafayette, and Adam Hipps of Mulberry; two great-grandchildren, Hope Slone (fiancé: Samuel White) and Kevin Slone; and a great-great-grandchild, Samantha White.
Preceding her in death with her parents and husband are two sisters, Nellie Daise Waggoner and Sadie Tallent; and one brother, Toy Ray Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Pastor Donnie Ely will be officiating, with burial following in Spring Vale Cememtery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
Hippensteel Funeral Home, Lafayette, IN were in charge of the arrangements.
