Olen Hurl "Mammy" Cantrell age 78 of the Johnson Chapel community of DeKalb County, passed away Sunday afternoon November 20, 2016 at his residence. 

 

He was born February 26, 1938 to his parents, the late William Ernest and Vina Edith Looney Cantrell.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Toni Cathey and Cindy Adams and 1 grandson, Gregg Ferguson, 3 brothers, Houston Cantrell, Othel Cantrell and David Cantrell. 

 

He was a member of the Johnson's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and a mechanic.

 

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Waltyne Young Cantrell of Sparta; 3 children, Tena (Tim) Ferguson of Collinwood, TN, Andrew (Jamie) Cantrell of Sparta, Becky (Craig) Greenwood of Herriman, Utah; son-in-law, Greg Cathey of Morrison; 9 grandchildren, Holly (Brad) Williams, Hailee Ferguson, Justin (Heather) Cathey, Judith Cathey, Sarah Cantrell, Hannah (Caleb) Johnson, Isaac Cantrell, London Greenwood and Thatcher Greenwood; 3 great-grandchildren, Tyler and Gavin Williams and Abi Cathey; 4 sisters, Brenda (R.V.) Billings, Phyllis (Bob) Malone, Janice Cantrell and Debbie (Jerry) Luna all of the Johnson's Chapel community; sister-in-law, Judy (Jerry) Adams of Murfreesboro. 

 

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bro. Tim Ferguson offciated with burial following in Bonham Cemetery. 

 

Pallbearers: Keith Lawwell, Tim Cantrell, Justin Cathey, Mike Billings, Isaac Cantrell, Shannon Luna, Kelly Adams, Jerry Adams, Wayne Adams, Devin Malone, Dennis Adams, and Mark Cantrell

 

 

 

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.
