Phillip Wayne DeBord, age 71, of Smithville passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Ascension St. Thomas Hospital Midtown. 

Phil was a member of Outreach Baptist Church and retired after 20 years in United States Army.   

He was born September 5, 1953, to his parents the late Wayne and Doris Bowen DeBord.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Glen "Boze" and Freda Bowen.; father and mother-in-law, Corbin and Marine Keith; brother-in-law, Dennis L. Keith. 

He is survived by wife, Kathy DeBord of Smithville; daughter, Cara (Shaun) Everson; son, Jason (Rachel) DeBord;  grandchildren, Kaleb Everson, Jaden Everson, Keegan DeBord, and Nathaniel Zakszewski;  brother, Kevin B. DeBord;  sister, Grace L. DeBord. 

Funeral service was held Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Nathan Thomason officiating and interment to follfolloewd ow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Military Honors conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. 

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Veterans Honor Guard or Outreach Baptist Church in memory of Mr. Phil.

Pallbearers included Reggie Truitt, Shaun Everson, Kaleb Everson, Jaden Everson, Keegan DeBord, an Jason DeBord. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Kevin DeBord, Arionne Matthews, Lance Curtis, and Josh Henderson.
