Funeral services for Quentin Caplinger, 88, of Smithville were held Feb. 26 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bro. Tommy Taylor and Bro. Mike Clayborn officiated with burial following at DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Caplinger passed away Feb. 23 at DeKalb Community Hospital ER. He ws a retired restaurant owner and affiliated with Memorial Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Lona Hill Caplinger; son-in-law Kenneth Hughes; five brothers Clarence, Charlie, Oble, Rayford and Monroe Caplinger; four sisters Ruth Sandlin, Elsie Caplinger, Ione Cantrell and Geraldine Summers.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Frances Caplinger of Smithville; two children Sue Hughes and Gary Caplinger, both of Smithville; two grandchildren Ryan Hughes and Westin Caplinger; two great-grandchildren Brady Hughes and McKenna Hughes; a brother Doston (Ruth) Caplinger of Smithville; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers included Wayne Pack, Eddie Moore, Randy Caplinger, Tracy Caplinger, Jeff Woodside, John Poss and Charles Caplinger.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were John Henry Thweatt and T.J. Hendrixson.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
