Funeral services for Rev. William H. “Bill” Lassiter, 77, of Guild were held Jan. 28 at Holly Avenue United Methodist Church in South Pittsburg. Rev. Michael Johnson and Rev. Joe Moore officiated. Mr. Lassiter passed away Jan. 25 in a Chattanooga hospital.A minister in the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church for over 30 years when he retired in 1999, he had served in the Chattanooga area for 25 years, and was a member of Holly Avenue United Methodist Church.Born in Sullivan County to the late Ernest P. and Hilda Pearl Cantrell Lassiter, he was a graduate of DeKalb County High School and Martin Jr. College, and received degrees from Tennessee Wesleyan and Emory.Rev. Lassiter is survived by his wife, Sally M. Lassiter of Guild; children, Kathryn (Greg) Murphy of Culloden, Georgia, Tom Lassiter of El Paso, Texas, Logan Carmichael of Jasper, Tommy Harney and Patsy Harney of Dayton; granddaughters, Jennifer (Zach) Ogden, and Brittany (Aaron) Watson; grandson, Jon Wilson; and several great-grandchildren.Rogers Funeral Home, South Pittsburg, was in charge of arrangements.SMITHVILLE REVIEWSmithville, TNFebruary 12, 2014
