R.J. Ervin, 87, of Madison passed away May 31 at The Webb House Retirement Center in Smithville. He was a DeKalb County native.Mr. Ervin was a WWII Veteran, served as a Merchant Marine, retired from the U.S. Navy, and was a 50-year member of the Naval Fleet Reserve Association.He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Dora Pack Ervin; sisters, Emma Ervin, Gertha Braswell and Mayzell Baker; and brothers, Alton, Marlon, Alvie and MacAuthur Ervin.Mr. Ervin is survived by his sister, JoAnn Pittman; step-sister, Betty Wilson, both of Smithville; four nieces, including special niece, Angie Meadows of Smithville; two nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and special friend, Eva Junker of Nashville.Mr. Ervin’s request was that of cremation and Spring Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.SMITHVILLE REVIEWSmithville, TNJune 6, 2012
