Funeral services for Ruby Pauline Johnson, 89, of Smithville were held Nov. 15 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel.

Bro. Dan Mallette and Bro. Michael Hale officiated, with burial following in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

She passed away Nov. 12 at NHC Healthcare Center in Smithville.

Ruby was born January 4, 1926 to the late Ewin and Ada Hicks, Sr.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Johnson; two sisters, Eva Jean Hicks, and Virginia Atnip; one brother, Ewin Hicks, Jr.; grandparents; Ace and Frances Adamson, and Will and Frances Hicks.

Ruby was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was a childcare giver and was affectionately known to many kids as "Aunt Ruby."

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Glenda Johnson of Liberty; five grandchildren, Nioakah (Shane) Hickman of Smithville, Nicholas Johnson, Noah Johnson, Nautica Johnson and Brandon Sykes all of Liberty; one great-granddaughter arriving soon; two brothers, Tom Hicks of Lebanon, and Bill Hicks of Georgia; one sister, Doris Hullet of McMinnville; several nieces, and nephews, cousins also survive.

Pallbearers included; Shane Hickman, Nicholas Johnson, Noah Johnson, Christian Smith, Aaron Hester, and Brad Hicks.
