Rubye Alice Cantrell, 88, of Smithville died Saturday at St. Thomas River Park Hospital.

 

She was a member of the Smithville Church of Christ, the Smithville Study Club and a retired receptionist at Dr. Cliff Duke's Dentistry.

 

The funeral was Tuesday at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home.

 

Dan Gulley officiated, with burial following in Whorton Springs Cemetery.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Zollie and Shirley Love Cantrell; her husband, Gerald Edwin Cantrell, Sr. Three brothers, Norman, Reed, and Royce Cantrell; and a sister, Josie Love.

 

Survivors include two sons, Gerald, Jr. and Beverly Cantrell of Mount Juliet and Paul and Michelle Cantrell; and a daughter Mary Elizabeth and Tim Puckett all of Smithville. Six grandchildren, Brigette, Wendy, Greg, Nikki, Kylee, and Brittany. Seven great grandchildren, Laney, Chandler, Trinity, Braden, Jackson, Gavin, and A.J. A brother, Gordon Lee and Jane Ann Cantrell of Centertown. Four sisters, Elizabeth LaFever of Woodbury, Gladys Buck of Madison, Joyce Crosslin of Texas, and Linda and Baxter Hillis of Centertown.

 

In addition to flowers, donations made be made to Smithville Day School and the Smithville Church of Christ.

 

Pallbearers included; Jim Lawrence, Michael and Martin Hillis, Alan Buck, Randy, Ernie and Greg Cantrell, and Dr. Cliff Duke.

 

 

 

Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, was in charge of the arrangements.
