Funeral services for Chester Sanders, 64, of Smithville were held Jan. 4 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bro. Thomas Hewell and Bro. Michael Hale officiated, with burial following in DeKalb Cemetery.

 

He passed away Jan. 2 at DeKalb Community Hospital.

 

He was born December 30, 1950 to the late Henry Sanders and Lavada Underwood Sanders Sauls.

 

He was self-employed and a member of the People’s Pentecostal Church.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Sanders; one daughter, Sandy Wheeler; three brothers, Glenn, Johnny and Jackie Sanders.

 

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Sanders of Smithville; children, Tammy Chapman, Jeff Sanders, and Vanessa Freeman all of Smithville; grandchildren, Tiffany Gallegos, Brittany Wheeler, Megan Sanders, Kevin Lee Sanders, Angel Sanders, Trista Lopez, Kimberly Freeman, Michael Freeman, Chase Freeman, Jamison Ortiz and Haily Wheeler; great-grandchildren, Christopher Gallegos, Jasmine Gallegos, and Gabrielle Wheeler; sisters, Janice Rowland and JoAnn Estes both of Smithville.

 

Pallbearers included Gary Harmon, Darrell Murphy, Grady Murphy, Bruce Neal, Cody Griffith, Adrian Gallegos, and John Barber.
