Sarah A. Wilkerson Brown, age 72, of Smithville went to her heavenly home on Wednesday night, June 1. 

 

She was a member of the Smithville First United Methodist Church for over 50 years, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Bible School, singing in the choir and other activities until her illness prevented her from continuing. 

 

She was the Office Manager with America Service Contractors. 

 

Sarah was born August 19, 1943 in Durant, OK to the late Lester Ernest and Bonnie Trapp Wilkerson. 

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Sandra Kay Wilkerson, and one brother, Bobby Keith Wilkerson.  

 

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Stuart and Tracy Brown and Scott and Teresa Brown, both of Smithville; three grandchildren, Cohen, Hannah and Seth Brown; two step-grandchildren, Cory Killian and Brad (Kim) Trapp; five step-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Jane Wilkerson of Lebanon; four nephews, Jason, Josh, John and Matthew Wilkerson. 

 

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bro. Terry Little, Bro. John Carpenter and Bro. Isaac Gray officiated, with burial following in Whorton Springs Cemetery. 

 

Pallbearers included: Jim Ed Rice, Hugh Don Cripps, Cory Killian, Richard Judkins, Randy Vaughn, and Tom Janney.

 

Honorary Pallbearers included; Spares and Pairs SS Class, The Fab 5, Shirley Parker, Donna Napier, Pat Redmon, and the caregivers at The Webb House.

 

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital, Ann Whitefield and Mel Nistad, the staff of The Webb House for the wonderful care that has been to Ms. Sarah.

 

 

 

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.
