Sifford
Funeral services for Rev. Carl Lynn Sifford, Sr., 87, of Smithville were held April 8 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel.
Bro. Jeff Armstrong and Danny Evans officiated, with military honors conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard.
Graveside services and interment were held April 9 at the Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville, South Carolina.
Mr. Sifford passed away April 6 at St. Thomas Hospital West in Nashville.
He was the son of the late Robert Lee and Ella Tipton Sifford.
He was a retired Church of God minister, having preached for over 60 years, and was ordained as a Bishop. He was a member of the Church of God in Johnson City, Tennessee, and attended the Smithville Church of God. Rev. Sifford was also a U.S. Navy Veteran.
In addition to his parents Rev. Sifford was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Sifford; one son, Stephen Sifford; one brother, Bobby Sifford; one sister, Daisy Stewart.
Rev. Sifford is survived by three sons, Carl (Sue) Sifford, Jr., Ron (Patsy) Sifford both of Smithville and Calvin (June) Sifford of Douglasville, GA; eight grandchildren, Melissa Friday, Michelle Ramirez, Carla Sue Madewell, Brandon Sifford, Kendra White, Jason Sifford, Jeana Lowe, and Tracey Russell; 21 great-grandchildren; one brother, Herman (Betty) Sifford of Albany, GA.
The family served as pallbearers.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Church of God Tennessee Home for Children in Sevierville.
