Thomas "Tom" Lassiter, age 86, of Smithville passed away Friday night, June 10 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital of an extended illness. 

 

Tom was born November 21, 1929 to the late Bernard and Lillie Moss Lassiter.

 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Billy and Charles Lassiter and 1 sister, Louise Hendrixson.

 

He was a member of the Snow Hill Baptist Church, a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict, and was retired from TRW in Lebanon. 

 

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sue Lassiter of Smithville; two children, Vicky (Trey) Hill of Brentwood and Todd (Misty) Lassiter of Smithville; four grandchildren, Presley Hill, Brady Hill, Macey Lassiter and Emileigh Lassiter; one sister-in-law, Jennie Mae Lassiter of McMinnville.

 

Funeral services were Monday, June 13 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel.

 

Bros. Steve Puckett and Michael Hale officiated, with burial to following in DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.

 

Pallbearers included: Brady Hill, Trey Hill, Ricky Hendrixson, Billy Miller, Jonathan Odom, and Eddie Herman.

 

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, was in charge of the arrangements.
