Mr. Vann Woodside, age 87, of Dowelltown passed away Nov. 19, at his residence surrounded by his family.  

 

Vann was born February 24, 1928 to the late Hobart and Mary C. Grandstaff Woodside.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Matthew Neal Vickers; two sisters, Mitchel Walden and Dorothy Hancock; one brother, O.T. Woodside.  He was a faithful member and Deacon of Dowelltown Baptist Church, a U.S. WWII Army Veteran, member and past Master of DeKalb Lodge #358 and retired from TRW Ross Gear.

 

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Billie Woodside of Dowelltown; three children, Vicki (Russell) Vickers of Dowelltown, Craig Woodside of Smithville and Jeff Woodside of Dowelltown; five grandchildren, Natalie (Brian) Page of Cookeville, Holly Woodside of Smithville, Pat Woodside of Knoxville, Brooke Woodside Johnson of Smithville and Kevin Woodside of Murfreesboro; three great-grandchildren, Eliana Page, Patrick Woodside, III, and Jaden Johnson; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. 

 

Masonic Services will be 6 p.m. Saturday at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. 

 

Funeral services were held on Nov. 22 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bros. Jeff Cripps and Michael Hale officiated, with burial following in Salem Cemetery with Military Honors.

 

Pallbearers included: Pat Woodside, Kevin Woodside, J.C. Byford, Jaden Johnson, Randy Caplinger, and Gary Caplinger.

 

In addition to flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
