Funeral services for Velma McGuire, 87, of Smithville, were held Jan. 26 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bro. Mak Bass and Bro. Michael Hale officiated with burial following in DeKalb Cemetery.
Mrs. McGuire passed away Jan. 23 at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a retired bank teller, a shirt factory worker and a member of Smithville First Baptist Church for close to 60 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hobert and Elizabeth Estep; husband, Dan McGuire; sister, Inez Young; and a brother, Howard Estep.
Survivors include two children, Peggy and husband, Brownie Barnes and Danny McGuire and companion Mary Hale of Smithville; five grandchildren, Jeff, Darrin, and Eric Barnes, Angie Magnuson and April Hillis; 12 great-grandchildren, Brittney, Cole, Brandon and Blake Barnes, Colby, Hunter and Tyler Magnuson, Mark and Michelle McGuire, Tony Johnson, Sky Tucker and Anakin Hillis; great-great granddaughter, Brooklyn Ponder; sisters, Ada Witt of Corbin, Ky., Jeanette Sharp of Elkton, Ky., Bena Mae Seivers of Clinton, Pat O'Neal of Lexington, Ky., and Wanda Steele of Corbin, Ky.; and a brother, Don Estep of Corbin, Ky.
Pallbearers included Walt Alberg, Alan Watts, Mack Herney, Jerry Tramel, David Terrell and Tony Hagan.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
