Violet Grace Cripps age 78 of Smithville passed away Thursday morning at her residence. 

 

Violet was born April 4, 1937 to her parents, the late Ray and Della Redmon Colwell.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Cripps; daughter, Marlene Cripps; grandson, Hunter Davis; and brother, Billy A. Colwell.

 

She was a member of the Indian Creek Baptist Church and a homemaker.  Survivors include 2 children, Stevie (Brenda) Cripps of Smithville and Annette (Ray) Davis of Liberty; 4 grandchildren, Tanner (Emily) Davis, Christian Davis, Sheena (Thomas) George, Crystal Sullivan; 10 great-grandchildren, Jace Davis, Layla Davis, Olympia and David Martin, David, Kaylee and Hannah George, Leah, Robbie and Devin Green; sister, Dorothy (Bill) White of Smithville; sister-in-law, Nancy Colwell of McMinnville; 2 nieces and 1 nephew, Gail Jones, Donna Hendrix and Ron "Wormy" Parker.

 

Funeral Services for Ms. Violet were held Sunday at DeKalb Funeral Chapel.

 

Bro. Michael Hale officiating with burial following in the Whorton Springs Cemetery. 

 

Pallbearers included; Nevin Huggins, Jason Moseley, Daniel Jones, Richard Young, Jackie Rigsby, and Joel Moore.

 

Honorary Pallbearers: WJ Page, and Ron “Wormy” Parker.

 

 

 

DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville were in charge of the arrangements.
