Violet Jo Evans, age 84 of Smithville, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital.
She was born October 25, 1934 to her parents, the late Shelie Charles and Chloe Judkins Webb. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jewell Edward Evans; four brothers, Junior Webb, Everett Webb, Porter Webb and Smith Webb; two sisters, Milus Barrett and Sally McClain.
She was a Christian, worked at Genesco, Federal Mogul and on the farm in the fields. She and her late husband were the former owners of Town & Country Video. Above all, she was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She leaves to cherish so many wonderful memories, two daughters, Reta (Frankie) Caldwell of Smithville and Shelia (David) Schoenmann of Smithville; four grandchildren, Wayne (Mary Ann) Caldwell, Shannon (Mark) Stanick, April (Joel) Armstrong and Misty Dedmon (Jose Lomas); great-grandchildren, Courtney and Cody Betsworth, Brettaney and Lane Green, Justin, Jordan and Jayden Stanick, Alexis and Brayde Baker, Brady and Brylee Hunt, Layla Dedmon and Monica Lomas; two great-great-grandchildren, Colt Rains and Ember Betsworth; a sister, Mildred Turner of Smithville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service was conducted Sunday, June 2, 2019 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jerry Braswell and Bro. Michael Hale officiating. Burial followed in DeKalb Memorial Gardens
Pallbearers included Eddie Evans, Danny Evans, Charlie Webb, Robert Barrett, Jr. Ken Webb and Ronnie Evans.
