Funeral services for Virginia Mai Atnip, 81, of Smithville, were held Sept. 30 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bro. Don Davidson officiated with burial following in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.    
Mrs. Atnip passed away Sept. 27 at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a member of Smithville First Baptist Church and worked at Kingston Timer.  
She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Ada Adamson Hicks; husband T.C. Atnip; and sister Jean Hicks.
Survivors include her children Maxine (Kenneth) Pritchett of Old Hickory, Phillip Atnip and Wanda Parker, both of Smithville, and Debbie (Robert) Driver of Dibrell; grandchildren Rhonda Pritchett, David (Andrea) Pritchett and Layra (Steve) Crook; great-great-grandchild Isabella Bald; brothers Tom Hicks of Lebanon and Billy Hicks of Georgia; sisters Doris Hullett of McMinnville and Ruby Johnson of Smithville; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Boyd and Emogene Atnip of Smithville and Mary Ann Yarman of Cookeville;  many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and church family.
Pallbearers included Steve Crook, Jordan Atnip, Eric Atnip, Shawn Jacobs, Larry Redmon and Brad Hicks.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
