Funeral services for Mr. Wally Whalen, 90, of Alexandria, were held Nov. 28 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Thurman Seber officiated. Burial was in Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors on Nov. 29. Mr. Whalen passed away Nov. 24 at his residence. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1982 and farmed in Alexandria since then. Mr. Whalen served in the U.S. Navy, having served in WWII, Chief Petty Officer and Signalman Corp. He was also a member of the Prosperity Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Robert and Sarah Elien Hollar Whalen, and son, Wallace Lynn Whalen.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Whalen of Alexandria, daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Mike Page; step-son, Kevin Chappell; sister-in-law, Donna Warner, of Calhoun, Ky.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Brenda and Pete Scott, of Owensboro, Ky.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel, Smithville, was in charge of the arrangements.
