Wesley Lewis Gambrell, age 75, of Gainesboro, passed away on January 31, 2022 at the Mabrey Healthcare and Rehab in Gainesboro.
During his working carrier, he works at a nursery, drove a truck and was a maintenance man at a factory. He served two tours of duty in the Army where he earned three medals, National Defense, Vietnam Campaign and Vietnam Service Medal.
Last year he was reunited with his two children after being separated for 48 years.
He was born on December 14, 1946, in Putnam County TN, to the late William and Elzo Maxwell Gambrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Hebert, Douglas O’Neal, Samuel Derwood and Joseph Carroll Gambrell; four sisters, Ima Jean Clouse, Elizabeth Ray, Linda Joy Burgess, and Wanda Charlene Gambrell
He is survived by his son, William Allen Taylor; daughter, Karen Faye Sturgeon; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; four sisters, O’Geal Sparks, Mural Burgess (Gerald McFarland), Thelma Hickey, Cathy Thomas, and Judy Fields; two very special friends and caregivers, Jeff and Debra Inscoe; several nieces and nephews and cousins also survive.
A graveside memorial service with Military Honors for Wesley Lewis Gambrell, was held on Wednesday February 16, 2022 at Palmer Cemetery. Bro. Ronald Strong officiated at the service.
Whitson Funeral Home, Cookeville, was in charge of the arrangements.
